Background: CLSTN2 (Alcadein gamma/Calsyntenin 2) is a member of the novel calsyntenin family of proteins that have been found to be localized in the postsynaptic membrane of excitatory central nervous system (CNS) synapses. It may play a role in postsynaptic Ca2+ signaling. Calsyntenin 2 structure is very similar to calsyntenin 1 in it's extracellular parts, but varies considerably in it's cytoplasmic segment.
