Background:  Ninein is a centrosomal protein required for the positioning and anchorage of the microtubule minus-end in epithelial cells. It may also be a centrosome maturation factor and may be involved in microtubule nucleation. Ninein is a component of the core centrosome and is arranged in a tubular shape with an open and a closed end.
