Background: GCET2, commonly known as germinal center B cell expressed transcript 2 protein, is a 178 amino acid protein expressed in diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and several germinal center (GC) like lymphoma cell lines (at protein level). It is highly expressed in normal GC lymphocytes and GC derived malignancies, as well as being present in the thymus and spleen. In B cells expression of the HGAL gene is specifically induced by interleukin 4.
